MINISTRIES

Ministries of the church refer to the various programs, services, and activities we offer to our members and community. Our ministries are designed to meet the spiritual, emotional, physical, or social needs of individuals or groups. The goal of all below is to foster spiritual growth and contribute to the betterment of our community in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

Children

New Salem Methodist Church on Lookout Mountain wants to help each child discover their God-given potential through Christ-like attitudes, service, and discipleship. We believe that every child is unique, special, and has a ton of potential waiting to be uncovered. Our goal is to provide a safe, nurturing environment where kids can explore and discover their God-given gifts.

You know how the Bible talks about how Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men? We don’t just want kids to grow intellectually and physically, we also want them to grow spiritually. Through regular attendance at church, prayer, and special events, we aim to nurture children’s faith and help them develop a strong relationship with God.

So, if you’re looking for a place where your child can discover their God-given potential through Christ-like attitudes, service, and discipleship, we’d love to have you join us at New Salem Methodist Church!

Jail Ministry for Women

This is a vital outreach program that has been running for several years, offering the hope and support of Jesus to incarcerated women. This program is a testament to our church’s commitment to serving those in need. Through the Jail Ministry for Women, our volunteers provide support through Bible study and emotional support.

Led by Betsy McCall, a passionate and experienced member of our church, this ministry has made a significant impact on the lives of countless women. Betsy is known for her unwavering dedication to this cause and her ability to connect with these women in a way that promotes healing and restoration. If you’re interested in getting involved in this ministry, please contact Betsy at jailministry@nsm.church.

Man Up Ministry

This is a unique program specifically designed for men who wish to engage in meaningful activities that go beyond regular Sunday services. This ministry is a blend of Bible study, fellowship, and service projects, all aimed at empowering men to develop their faith and build stronger relationships with their fellow believers.

Through this program, men can explore their faith and gain a deeper understanding of the Bible while bonding with other members of the church community. The Man Up Ministry offers service projects that provide participants with opportunities to serve those in need within our local area. This service-oriented approach helps to create a sense of purpose and fulfillment among members, as they work together to make a positive impact in the lives of others.

For further details on this ministry, interested parties may reach out to Pastor Reece Fauscett, at (423) 488-7060 or pastor@nsm.church. He would be happy to provide more information on this ministry and how you can get involved. Join us in this meaningful journey of faith and service today!

Partnerships with
New Salem Baptist Church

At New Salem Methodist Church, we believe in the power of community and partnership. That’s why we’re proud to partner with New Salem Baptist Church as much as possible, to bring our communities together in faith and fellowship.

One of the ways we partner with New Salem Baptist Church is through our annual Sunrise Easter Service and Breakfast. Each year, we come together to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, with a beautiful outdoor service at Hawkins Memorial Cemetary followed by a delicious breakfast. This event is a wonderful opportunity for members of both churches to come together in worship and celebration.

Another way we have partnered with New Salem Baptist Church recently is through our Live Church Nativity. This event brought the story of the nativity to life, with live actors and animals reenacting the birth of Jesus Christ. The Live Church Nativity is a beloved tradition in our community, and we’re proud to partner with New Salem Baptist Church.

Overall, we believe that our partnership with New Salem Baptist Church is an important part of our mission to serve our community. Together, we are able to create meaningful events and experiences that bring people closer to God and to each other. We look forward to continuing our partnership with New Salem Baptist Church for many years to come.

Seniors

Senior lunches are a great way to support and connect with older individuals in our community. These lunches, which are held every month in the fellowship hall of our church, provide a warm and inviting atmosphere for seniors to gather and enjoy a meal together. The events are often organized by volunteers who prepare and serve delicious food and ensure that everyone is comfortable and engaged. These gatherings offer seniors the opportunity to socialize, make new friends, and catch up with old ones, while also providing a sense of community and support. In addition to the enjoyment of good food and company, senior lunches can also offer resources and information to attendees, helping them navigate the challenges of aging and providing a space to discuss important topics. Overall, senior lunches are an important part of our community and serve as a valuable way to honor and celebrate the contributions of our elders.

Shut-ins

At New Salem Methodist Church, we believe in the importance of supporting our shut-ins during challenging times. We understand that being unable to attend church can be isolating and difficult, which is why we offer a range of services to keep our shut-ins connected to our community.

One of the ways we support our shut-ins is through the power of prayer. We believe that prayer has the ability to bring comfort and healing, even from a distance. Our church community comes together to lift up our shut-ins in prayer, letting them know that they are never alone.

In addition to prayer, we also provide fellowship for our shut-ins. We believe that connection is a crucial part of our faith, and we work hard to keep our shut-ins a part of our church as much as possible, whether it’s through regular phone calls or visits from our pastor.

Overall, we believe that it’s essential to support our shut-ins in any way we can. We want them to know that they are valued members of our community and that we are here to support them through all of life’s challenges.

Youth

We believe that the youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow, which is why we provide our Teens Ministry with special attention to meet their social, educational, and spiritual needs. Our aim is to lead each middle school and high school student toward a greater understanding of themselves within our faith community.

At New Salem Methodist Church, we empower our teens to use their unique gifts and talents to serve others. We believe that everyone has something valuable to contribute, and we encourage our youth to make a positive impact on the world around them.

Through our Youth Ministry, we offer a range of opportunities for students to experience Christ in their daily lives. From worship and missions to discipleship, fellowship, and other ministry opportunities, we strive to provide our youth with a holistic experience that nurtures their spiritual growth.

Our goal is to foster loving relationships and nurture Disciples of Christ so that our youth and families can reach out in service to others. We welcome all students in grades 6 through 12 to join our youth group and become part of our community.

So, if you’re a middle school or high school student looking for a place where you can explore your faith, make friends, and make a difference in the world, we invite you to join our Youth Ministry at New Salem Methodist Church!
